Brooklyn Bridge
Hey guys welcome back! Our staycation of 2014 is coming to an end booohooo hooo hoooo. I cry!
Anyways lets get into it theres no time to waste, long day ahead of us... first stop off the #5 stop at Brooklyn Bridge obviously will be to walk the Brooklyn Bridge.
It's a crowded long walk especially during the day in the heat of summer but its FREE and beautiful and well worth the blisters! Next time wear your sneakers like i told you (you guys dont listen ;p).
You seen one brooklyn bridge photo you seen em all right?! Well here is my professional advice if you are going with the intention of taking the best photos.
Go right before the sun rises or right before the sun sets you'll get lots of interesting shadows which will create cool photos. If you going in the middle of the day when the sun is at its highest the photos will look like mine below.
Where to eat
There are so many places to grab a bite to eat in this area. After that long ass walk on the bridge, i got thirsty and hungry. But i don't eat "fast food" ( like McDonalds, Wendys etc) and i didn't want to sit in a restaurant so i walked around until i found this small hole in the wall. The small places like this throughout the city are usually some of the best spots.
This area, also known as the Financial District, is towards the end tip of the city. The streets are all squeezed together.
These dudes insisted i take a pic of them oye. That was the common theme that day "you can take a pic of me if you want" i mean really guys. Get better lines... Im just saying. |
South Street Seaport
Folks as you read this its currently June 2014. I have to mention this because at this time the Seaport is not the most ideal spot to visit till after next summer 2015. According to a Seaport worker, apparently after one the storms, this area was badly affected. BE WARNED.
Seaport Museum
One thing i DO love about this area is the history. Most of the buildings are the same buildings that were originally built in the mid - late 1800's. That's freaking cool! You'll also notice the streets are still cobble stone. So lets step back in time for this little section here in the museum...

Look up! Pay attention to the buildings most of them still have the original signs. |

This Fulton Market is the one located "inland". Closed for renovations. |
This is the one that was by the water. Do any of you remember this mall? Well its all gone. As you can see they're pulling it apart. |

E.L.F
On our way to our final stop today ... look what we found?! yes an actually E.L.F store! Normally you buy this affordable makeup brand from places like target, strawberry's and other places like that but recently they opened their own actual store here in the city.
I have to say though when i first walked in the two ladies that were there were so EFFIN NASTY. Omg you guys it was like walking into a MAC store. No bueno!!! But the store later redeemed it self with two other ladies that came out. Stay tuned for an E.L.F giveaway... follow my FB page if you want in on it. https://www.facebook.com/ohlalalynnie

Century 21
Finally! So tired but here's the final stop. If you are in this area you have to hit up Century 21! High end clothing at 60% off. While i was there, I met this really sweet, charming young worker named Ali. He shared this bit of info with me, now imma share it with you. Before you visit, download the C21 app on your phone. You'll be prompted to enter your name, email and zip. When you get there open your app... on the walls you will see C21 red banners take a photo of it and BAM you're in. It'll give you coupons like this one
to the right of this photo are the new twin tower buildings and the memorial... that's for another day. |
